Do you have questions
about Online Giving?
Let us try to help with answers to the following questions:
Why
give?
Why give money to the
church?
Before explaining what
to write on your check or how to give online, it’s far more important
that you know why we encourage you to give to God by giving to the church.
To put it simply, it’s what God says to do. He tells us in the Bible
that He wants us to give regularly, generously, and sacrificially out
of all He gives us - all as part of our worship of Him.
Not because God needs
what we have. But because we need to give it. What we do with what we
have directs our heart. Giving to God reminds us that He has given us
everything we have, and can be counted on to meet every need we will
ever have. Giving something back to Him is an expression of gratitude
and worship.
How
do I give at Salem First Church of the Nazarene?
Weekend Offering
An offering is taken at each of services. If you would like your contribution
or a portion of your contribution designated to a certain fund, please
list the fund and the amount desired in the memo line of the check.
When no specific designation is given, all funds are designated to the
General Fund.
Loose cash gifts are
considered anonymous donations and are designated to the General Fund.
Offering envelopes are located in the racks located on the back of the
pews and seats, and can be used to designate a fund.
Online Giving
You may set up one-time or recurring contributions from a debit card.
Choose to have the contributions withdrawn from your account weekly,
biweekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly. Simply click on the "Give
Online" link on the top or the bottom of this page. Follow
the steps to create a new account or access your account if you have
already created one. You may manage your giving through this online
system anytime.
Why
give online?
It keeps first things
first.
The Bible indicates giving is to be a "first" and not a last
or leftover matter in my life. Read Proverbs 3:9-10. It is easy to let
our intentions be compromised by the pressure of expenses and billing
cycles.
It's consistent.
Have you ever forgotten your gift, left it at home or pledged to double
it in the future? Have you had times where you have fallen behind because
of travel or other schedule interruptions? Online giving provides a
way to stay up to date with your budget.
It's convenient.
Through online giving, you expedite your gift, simplify our accounting,
and strengthen our base of regular support.
What
else do I need to know about giving online?
Here are a few Frequently
Asked Questions (FAQ's) about online giving. Perhaps they will also
be helpful to you.
Q: I clicked the
"Give Online" button and nothing happens.
A: When you click Online Giving, a new browser window is opened. If
you are using a pop-up blocker such as the Google Toolbar, Norton Internet
Security, or Pop-Up Stopper, the window will not open. Most tools will
allow you to permit pop-ups on a specific web site. In order to use
the Giving area, you will need to allow pop-ups within Salemnaz.org.
Q: When would this
automatic contribution be charged to my account?
A: On the signup screens, you can specify whether you want your contribution
made one time, weekly, every other week (bi-weekly), twice per month
(on the 1st and the 16th), monthly, quarterly, or yearly. You can set
up as many schedules as you would like, so it is possible to give a
monthly gift as well as a weekly one.
Q: Can I test this
by giving one time?
A: Yes. You may test Online Giving by selecting "One Time"
in the frequency box of the signup process.
Q: How can I keep
a record of the amount I have contributed?
A: At any time you can view your record of "online" giving
by viewing the Contribution History box. This will provide each donation
you made, when you made it, and a year-to-date total. We also send year-end statements directly to your home address.
Q: Is giving online
secure?
A: For your protection, we have taken a number of steps to maximize
the security of financial transactions on the website. Bank account
processing is accomplished using secure processing services. Your entry
of this information is encrypted when transmitted. Encryption is a process
that scrambles information into a format that unauthorized parties can
not decode or utilize.
Q: Is my online giving
information kept private?
A: The online giving registration form requires you to give us contact
information (like your name and e-mail address), and demographic information.
We will not sell or rent your personal information to third parties.
This information is stored in your file in a secure environment separate
from our website.
Q: Who do I talk
to if I have more questions?
A: Contact Pastor Jerry Morris at the church office 503.581.3680 and he will be glad to answer any other questions you may have about online
giving.
Tips:
- Please take
note of your bank card expiration date. When the card expires your recurring
contribution automatically stops.
- If your contribution
will result in a negative balance on your checking account the contribution
will not go through and the recurring contribution will be canceled.
