Hey First Family,

It’s hard to believe we’re already half way through the month of May.  Let me tell you about a few items that I think you’d like to know about…

1.     All Church Vote This Sunday – As has been announced, we will be taking a vote this Sunday on two items:

a.      Sale of church properties for the purpose of the new building project 

b.     Approval of the bridge loan. 

The church board has voted unanimously to support both of these, and recommends a positive vote from the congregation.  Voting opportunities will be available before and after the services in identified locations.

2.     Charlie Shiffman will be with us again this Sunday evening, May 17. Many of you remember that he was with us on April 26 and spoke aboutThe Bible from Jewish Perspective.  This Sunday, Charlie will be speaking about The Future of Israel.  Once again, this will be in the London Room at 6:00 pm.  You’ll find Charlie to be a very warm- hearted religious Jew who will give you some views that most of us really never hear.  I hope you can join us for this special evening.

3.     Night To Honor Israel – June 7.  This is one of those times that we can take advantage of  something happening in our own back yard.  This is a great way to show your support for Israel.  The evening will consist of great speakers, great music, and great fellowship with Jews and Christians coming together in a show of solidarity.  If you have been reading and listening to the news events, there are some significant steps being taken by our own nation that will result in the United States distancing itself from Israel.  You’ll need a ticket.  They are $10 and I’d like to see us take 100 people from Salem First.  We did that last year, and I think we can do it again this year.  Mark your calendar.  Get a ticket at the church office, and include a friend.  This will take place at New Hope Community Church in Clackamas, just off 205.  We can carpool together.

4.     Philip Zimmerman This Sunday – So many of you know Philip and enjoy his heart.  He’ll be speaking this Sunday and you’ll hear the latest on the church plant in Mainz, Germany.  I hope you’ll come expecting a tremendous morning.  Please be praying for the services as we move towards the weekend.

5.     Extend The Vision Building Project – Thank you for your commitment to see this vision become a reality.  If you haven’t noticed yet, check out the red stripe in the parking lot.  It outlines the project quite nicely.  Be sure to mark your giving to this project clearly so that it goes to the Building Fund.  Remember, all giving to our project is to be above our regular tithes and offerings to the ongoing work of the church.   Your participation is going to make a significant difference in the future of Salem First.

It’s my desire to see us stay strong as we head into summer.  We’ve got a fantastic summer planned around the church.  You’ll be hearing much more about this in the coming weeks.  I value you and your prayers more than you can even imagine.  Please know that I’m thanking God for you today!
